State Sen. Kevin Kelly, a Republican who represents Shelton, will serve as ranking member of the General Assembly’s Aging Committee and Insurance & Real Estate Committee for the 2015-16 legislative sessions.
Kelly will also serve as a member of the Regulations Review Committee and the Legislative Management Committee during the next two years.
He said he was pleased with the appointments, made by the Senate’s incoming Republican minority leaders.
“In these roles I will be able to continue addressing the needs of our state’s growing senior population as well as the insurance needs that impact every family in Connecticut,” Kelly said.
“I will continue to advocate for improved healthcare access and affordability for people of all ages and reduce the obstacles people face when seeking appropriate insurance coverage,” he said.
Kelly has served as ranking member of both the Aging and Insurance & Real Estate committees since 2011.
He represents the 21st Senatorial District, which includes all of Shelton as well as parts of Monroe, Seymour and Stratford. He is an attorney who lives in Stratford.
The 2015 legislative session will begin on Jan. 7.
