Local pet company campaigns for shelter animals

The holiday season was a little brighter for shelter pets, as a result of the efforts of Mandy Oram’s local pet sitting and dog training company, Paws and Kisses Pet Services.

The Shelton-based Paws and Kisses joined forces with the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters and pet sitters and owners from across the country for the seventh annual Presents 4 Pets campaign.

Presents 4 Pets is a national collection drive to benefit shelter and rescue animals. Held in conjunction with National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, this program solicits pet care products needed to help keep shelters and rescue organizations operational, and animals comfortable and safe.

As part of the program, Oram reached out to her clients and the local community and encouraged them to collect and donate pet care products.

Items such as pet toys, treats, food, blankets, towels, rugs, beds, leashes, collars and cat litter were collected and donated to local shelters and rescue groups.

‘Vital role’ of animal shelters, rescue groups

Through this year’s campaign, Paws and Kisses Pet Services collected more than $2,000 worth of products and donated them to local animal shelters and rescue groups.

“We extend thanks to all those who donated this year and helped to make the Presents 4 Pets campaign a success,” Oram said. “It is important to remember animal shelters and rescue groups and the vital role they serve in the local community, both at the holiday season and throughout the year.”
