State Police are investigating a late-night shooting that involved two vehicles on Route 8. The incident appears to have taken place on the highway in Shelton.
At about 1:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, State Police received a 9-1-1 call from a vehicle that was traveling north on Route 8 in the Shelton area.
The caller said an occupant of a Buick sedan had just fired multiple shots at the victim’s car, according to a State Police press release. The caller’s vehicle was occupied by five males and was about to get off Exit 22 (Route 67) in Seymour.
The Seymour Police Department was provided with descriptive information of the vehicles in the incident. Seymour officers then located both the vehicles and stopped them, securing the occupants, the release stated.
One person received ‘grazing wound’
One victim sustained a minor grazing wound to the neck. That subject was transported by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital, where he was treated and released from the hospital.
State troopers and State Police detectives responded to the scene and began the investigation.
The detectives conducted interviews and searched for evidence on Route 8 northbound and off the highway in Seymour. A State Police K-9 team was utilized to assist in the search of these areas.
No other injuries were reported and no arrests have been made at this time.
