Stories with Danielle — Thursdays, Jan. 8 and 15, 11 a.m. Story time for ages 3-4. Drop in.

As I See It — Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1 p.m. Friends of the Shelton Libraries offer a film viewing and discussion over desserts; new members welcome.

Full Steam Ahead — Wednesdays, Jan. 7 and 14, 1:30 p.m. STEM plus Art focus for pre-school kids in a weekly hands-on activity with Ms Maura, drop in.

AlphaBits  — Thursday, Jan. 8, 10 a.m. Preschoolers and caregivers work on learning skills to make them Kindergarten ready; drop in session, siblings welcome.

Shelton School Readiness Council — Thursday, Jan. 8, 2 p.m. Open council meeting of Shelton supporters of early literacy; new members welcome.

Women’s Health — Thursday, Jan. 8, 7 p.m. Dr. Zoe Hickson shares insights into getting the year off to a great start for women of all ages. Drop in.

Stay & Play — Fridays, Jan 9 and 16, 10:30 a.m. Adults chat while children play in a safe secure environment; light refreshments provided. Suitable for babies and young children.

Library/Home School Network — Friday, Jan. 9, 2 p.m. Families explore library resources and offer support over refreshments; new members welcome.

Minecraft Club — Saturday, Jan. 10, 2 p.m. Kids 4-12 share ideas and tips in this free monthly program which offers a craft, game and educational element, but no online gaming. Register; space limited.

I Spy — Monday, Jan. 12, 9 a.m. Kids 1-12 are challenged to name all the characters in the new children’s department mural.

Budding Bookworms — Mondays, Jan. 12 and 26, 10:30 a.m. A themed drop in story and craft time for kids 1-5 years old and their caregivers.

Family Book Club — Monday, Jan. 12, 5 p.m. Kids in grades 3-5 read Wild Girl by Patricia Reily Giff this month, then share opinions, activities and snacks. Registration required; copies of books available.

SW CAPA — Monday, Jan. 12, 6:30 p.m. Regional authors and publishers association shares support and speakers. New members welcome.

Fun for Little Ones — Tuesdays, Jan. 13 and 20, 10 a.m. Children ages 1-5 are invited to join Mrs. Fritsch for stories, songs, activities and a special theme related craft, siblings welcome.

knit! — Tuesdays, Jan 13 and 20, 6 p.m. Adult fiber fans meet to knit, crochet and chat, lots of support and fellowship in this drop in group, stop in and bring a friend.

Book Buzz — Tuesdays, Jan. 13 and 20, 2 p.m. Drop-in with Miss Maura for weekly book and book based craft plus a healthy snack. This program for preschool children and their caregivers welcomes audience participation.

Kids in the Kitchen — Wednesday, Jan. 14, 6 p.m. The trip around the world with cooking treats continues for kids 5 and older with caregivers; simple skills but adult help needed so parents expect to stay. Dress for mess, be aware of allergies. Register early.

Snowman Contest — Thursday, Jan. 15, 6 p.m. Ages 3 to 18 and adults can construct a snowman, then kids’ snowmen go on display for the public to vote for Best Looking Library Snowman 2015. (Spoiler Alert: there is no snow involved, just socks.) Materials provided.

Home Delivery — Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials. Contact the branch library, 203-926-0111). A project underwritten with support from the Friends of the Library and the Valley Community Foundation.
