A three-day special enforcement program during the New Year’s holiday by the State Police led to 38 arrests for driving under the influence and 726 speeding citations.
There also were 1,593 hazardous moving citations issued to drivers and 22 seatbelt citations given out.
Additional troopers were put in place on highways and roads around Connecticut to perform both sobriety checkpoints and targeted enforcement operations.
The operation went from early on Tuesday, Dec. 30 through the end of Thursday, Jan. 1, covering the New Year’s Eve holiday period.
During that time period, troopers investigated 158 accidents that caused 28 injuries and no fatalities.
Local police departments also conducted enforcement activities during the holiday period.
