With overnight lows consistently slipping below the freezing point, Bridgeport Rescue Mission is preparing for the wave of homeless mothers with children and individuals seeking safe beds, nutritious food and warm clothing that typically occurs as winter sets in. Because of decreased giving, Executive Director Rev. Terry Wilcox is concerned about the mission’s ability to meet their needs.
“In the last few months, we’ve experienced a significant drop in donations compared to previous years — funding is down by more than $200,000,” Wilcox said. “This financial shortfall could seriously impact the “mission’s ability to assist the homeless now and throughout the new year.”
Wilcox encourages mission partners to take this opportunity to make a year-end contribution, and he invites new friends to make their first contribution.
The mission invites anyone who would like to make a gift to donate online at BridgeportRescueMission.org or send a contribution to P.O. Box 9057, Bridgeport, CT 06601.
