SHELTON WEATHER UPDATE: How cold will get tonight? Think negative

The air temperature will go down to 0 (zero degrees) tonight in Shelton, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), which is warning of “dangerously cold air across the region.”

The wind chill temperatures tonight could go down as low as 15-below-zero, the NWS said, which has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Fairfield County from 7 p.m. tonight through 8 a.m. Thursday.

“The frigid conditions will be dangerous to those venturing outside,” the NWS said in its advisory. “Prolonged exposure may cause frostbite.”

It will remain cold on Thursday, with an expected high of 17 degrees in Shelton. It will warm up slightly on Friday, but then another cold-air system will arrive for the weekend.
