Stop & Shop supermarket chain pulls veggie burgers after recall

Shelton-MornstarBurgerFollowing a recall by Morningstar Farms, Stop & Shop supermarkets are removing from sale MorningStar Farms Spicy Black Bean Burgers that may contain peanut, an allergen that is not listed on the ingredient label.

This product is safe to consume for individuals who do not suffer from a peanut allergy.

The following products are included in this recall:

— MorningStar Farms Spicy Black Bean Burgers, 18.9 oz., UPC 2898971750, with a Better if Used Before Date of “APR14 16” to “JUN30 16”

— MorningStar Farms Spicy Black Bean Burgers, 9.5 oz., UPC 2898939207, with a Better if Used Before Date of “APR14 16” to “JUN30 16”

 

Full refund being offered

Customers who have purchased this product should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt for a full refund to Stop & Shop, including the one at 898 Bridgeport Ave. in Shelton.

No reported illnesses so far

Stop & Shop has received no reports of illnesses to date. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these MorningStar Farms Spicy Black Bean Burgers.
