Red Bull to open office, warehouse in Shelton

Red Bull Inc. plans to open an office and warehouse facility at 100 Trap Falls Road Ext. in Shelton.

The city Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) approved a plan for the company to use 14,900 square feet in the former W.E. Bassett Co. building, near Bridgeport Avenue.

The front area will be used for offices, where about six employees will be stationed, while a larger back area will used to warehouse “a product line,” the P&Z was told. The back area includes a loading dock.

The space will be leased from the building owner. The applicant for the business use request was A. Secondino & Son.

The building at 100 Trap Falls Road Ext. is 81,500 square feet. It was purchased by a privately-held real estate investment firm in 2013.

Red Bull is a well-known maker of energy drinks and related products. The company started in 1986 and mostly targets a younger male clientele. It sold more than 5 billion cans of beverages in 2013, according to the company’s website.
