A 21-year-old Shelton woman was arrested yesterday after a resident found her in their home.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, police received a call that a Cots Street resident came home and found an unknown woman inside. The female allegedly fled on foot after a brief discussion with the resident.
Det. Richard Bango arrived on scene and saw a female running in a wooded area. The woman initially did not comply with commands from the officer to stop, but was arrested after a brief foot pursuit, police said.
The woman, later identified as Chelsea Hitzler, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer.
Police later discovered Hitzler had a warrant and she was additionally arrested for violation of probation. Hitzler is being held on a $7,500 bond for both arrests.
She will appear in sate Superior Court in Derby today.
