Sixteen restaurants and hotels in CT given world-class status

They receive Five Diamonds or Four Diamonds from AAA

Connecticut’s idyllic northwest corner continues to be the home to the state’s only two lodgings and one restaurant to receive Five Diamonds from the AAA.

Five properties in Fairfield County —four in Greenwich and one in Fairfield — received Four Diamonds from the automobile club’s rating system.

Winvian in the town of Morris again earned two Five Diamond awards — one for its lodging and the other for its restaurant, for the fourth consecutive year. The Mayflower Grace (formerly The Mayflower Inn & Spa) in the nearby town of Washington earned a Five Diamond for its property, for the 18th year in a row.

‘The best of the best’

Each year, AAA inspectors visit more than 58,000 establishments across the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, using the Diamond rating system to guide AAA members when choosing places to stay and eat. Of that number, just 0.3% receives the Five Diamond award, while 3.9% receive a Four Diamond.

Fran Mayko, AAA Northeast’s spokesman, said the Five- and Four-Diamond rated properties “are truly the best of the best.” AAA Northeast’s territory covers Litchfield, Fairfield and New Haven counties.
