Wrestling: Tobin takes home title

Kyle Tobin was the champion at 285, and the Shelton High wrestling team placed ninth at the New Milford Invitational.

New Milford won the team title with 220 points, followed by Fairfield Ludlowe with 134. Wilton’s Nicholas Rende was named Most Outstanding Wrestler after winning the title at 106.

For Shelton, Scott Plucenik finished second at 126 and Malike Malcolm was third at 220.

Tobin defeated Nick Photos of Amity High, 5-4, in his finals’ bout, while Plucenik lost to CJ Schultz of New Milford by fall in 1:57.

Malcolm won an 8-4 minor decision over Plainville’s Nick Cyr in the consolation final.
