The Shelton public schools will dismiss early Monday, Jan. 26, according to Supt. of Schools Freeman Burr. The dismissal is based on the prediction of a blizzard to begin Monday afternoon and last well into Tuesday.
Also from the school system, Monday’s eighth grade open house at Shelton High School will be postponed. This is the second postponement of the event due to weather. Additionally, any after school activities will not be happening Monday.
The Blizzard Watch is in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday night, according to the NWS. A blizzard could blanket Shelton and the rest of the greater New York City metropolitan area with heavy snow and blowing snow that leaves 1 to 2 feet of snow — even higher amounts in some areas.
The specific prediction for the Shelton area is 18 to 24 inches, based on the latest forecasts.
