Just after 1 p.m. on Monday, Shelton fire companies 3 and 1 were dispatched to Route 8 northbound between exits 12 and 13 for an accident, according to Echo Hose Hook & Ladder.

Car 3 arrived, reporting a pickup truck was off the road with the driver trapped. Squad 1 and crews from Squad 30 and Engine 32 then removed the vehicle’s roof to quickly extricate the driver, who was suffering serious injuries, Echo Hose reported.

The patient was loaded and brought up to the road and into the care of EMS for transport.
