Shelton could pick up 6 to 12 inches of snow from a system expected to pass through the region late Sunday into Monday.

The system appears to be gaining in intensity, and the timing couldn’t be worse with the Super Bowl ending late Sunday and the morning commute the next day.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the snow should start in Shelton about 10 p.m. Sunday, with 2 to 4 inches possible overnight.

The snow will continue on Monday, with another 4 to 8 inches possible before ending around 10 p.m., the NWS said.

There also is a chance for snow on Wednesday night and Thursday in Shelton. Temperatures will remain cold into next week.
