Wrestling: Shelton falls to Foran (Updated)

Shelton High School’s wrestling team dropped a 57-14 decision to visiting Foran High on Senior Night, on Thursday.

The Gaels (17-5), who have had a solid season, were without three regulars and ran into a strong Foran squad which improved to 21-4.

Shelton’s wins were in the 113-pound weight division as John Rosa pinned William Mauro in 1:08, the 138 bout as John Litts scored an 11-0 decision over Roman Babadzhan, and at 220 as Malike Malcolm earned an 11-3 decision over Zachary Cardellichio.

The Gaels were competitive in some of their setbacks.

Shelton’s Kyle Tobin was pinned by Luke Edmonson with just three-tenths of a second remaining in the third period of the 285 competition.

Qasim Khan, of Foran, prevailed ten seconds into overtime when he took down 152 pound counterpart Daniel Persson for a 10-8 win.

At 160, Foran wrestler Noah Hubler earned a hard-fought 2-1 decision over Delonne Sloan.
