SHELTON SNOW: Predicted amounts coming down but many uncertainties

The latest National Weather Service (NWS) forecast for Shelton predicts 2.5 to 5.5 inches of snow will fall from late Sunday night to late Monday night.

Snow and freezing rain is expected tonight, turning into a mix with sleet in the overnight hours. A layer of ice could form on ground surfaces. From 1 to 2 inches of snow and sleet could accumulate in Shelton, the NWS said.

On Monday, mostly snow will fall during the day, with an additional 1 to 3 inches possible. It will change to mixed precipitation in the late afternoon and evening, with up to another half inch of snow accumulating as well as some ice, the NWS said.

Light snow could continue into Tuesday morning.

How much snow, sleet or freezing rain falls during the storm in Shelton and elsewhere will largely be determined by the temperature, which will be fluctuating.
