Mayor Mark Lauretti said he expects to run for re-election this fall. The Republican was first elected in 1991 and would be seeking a 13th term in office.

“I don’t take the public for granted,” he said of how he would approach the campaign.

Lauretti said he doesn’t get too worked up about what Democrat may challenge him. “I’ve never worried about who my opponent might be,” he said.

In 2013, Lauretti won re-election with 77% of the vote against Democratic challenger David Gioiello.
