State’s child advocate to speak at local dinner

The state’s child advocate will be the speaker at the Parent Child Resource Center (PCRC) annual awards dinner on Tuesday, March 24.

Sarah Eagan will discuss “Protecting Connecticut’s Children is Everyone’s Responsibility,” focusing on the recent report on the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School by the Office of the Child Advocate.

Eagan was appointed as Connecticut’s child advocate in August 2013. Her office promotes the well-being of children and makes recommendations for system reform.

The dinner will take place from 6-8 p.m. at Grassy Hill Country Club, 441 Clark Lane, Orange.

The Lower Naugatuck Valley PCRC serves more than 1,200 children annually, many of whom suffer from serious behavioral and emotional problems, including trauma, abuse and neglect. The agency’s service area includes Shelton.
