Shelton woman marks 25 years running salon business

A Shelton resident is marking her 25th year anniversary in business. Nancy Aponte is owner of Salon Aponte, which she has operated for a quarter century at 838 Main St. in Monroe.

Aponte said her salon specializes in offering safer, non-toxic alternatives in hair color and care, working with eco-friendly companies. It also offers natural decorative cosmetics and nail products, and recycles all plastics, cardboard and color bottles used in the establishment.

Salon Aponte has won awards such as Conservationist of the Month and Best Eco-Friendly Hair Salon in Fairfield County, according to Aponte.

“She has watched some of her young clients grow up and now watched their children do the same,” according to publicity material. “They are a big part of why she still continues to do business in the area.”
