Good news for Gabby

The Shelton Animal Shelter posted an update about Gabby, the Shar-Pei dog that the Shelton Herald featured last week.

“Gabby was seen by an eye specialist in Wilton,” the Facebook post said. “To everyone’s great surprise & astonishment, Gabby will not need surgery.” She was treated with oral antibiotics and eye drops.

“Unfortunately we are all too familiar with homeless animals in need,” the post said.  “These types of situations are an ongoing issue at the animal shelter.”

Funds to be used for future emergency

The funds collected to help Gabby with the expected surgery will remain in an account at the shelter to be used in an emergency.

Officials said if someone donated and wants a refund because the money wasn’t used as planned, they may contact the Shelton Animal Shelter through its Facebook page.
