SHELTON WEATHER UPDATE 6 P.M.: Heavy snow continues to fall

The snow is expected to continue until about midnight, then possibly change to mixed snow and freezing rain through Saturday morning.
Total accumulations should be in the 4 to 5 inch range, according to National Weather Service predictions.

The conditions are keeping local emergency crews busy. According to the Echo Hose Fire’s Twitter feed, Shelton firefighters responded to a multi-vehicle accident on Route 8 southbound Exit 13 (upper Bridgeport Avenue/Constitution Boulevard South) at about 5:10 p.m. That followed a reported vehicle rollover on Shelton Avenue (Route 108).

There also were earlier reports of a chimney fire and a gas leak at two other locations in Shelton on late Friday afternoon.
