Shelton congressman earns high marks on the environment

Congressman Jim Himes, who represents most of Shelton, ranks among the most pro-environment legislators in Congress, according to the League of Conservation Voters’ (LCV) 2014 National Environmental Scorecard.

Himes earned a grade of 94% for his work in the House last year, and a 95% rating since taking office in 2009.

“I will continue working to combat the ravages of climate change, promote clean energy and energy efficiency investments, and preserve our treasured natural resources in Connecticut and across the country,” said Himes, a Democrat in his fourth term.

In the 2014 scorecard, the LCV graded members of Congress based on 35 votes involving issues that ranged from renewable energy investments to clean drinking water protection.
