Hunter Wronski, sophomore at Shelton High School, is a SCC Medalist and CIAC Class L Medalist in boys swimming.

He made the 2015 SCC All-Conference Swim Team and was a double school record-breaker, (in 100 Breaststroke and the 200 Medley Relay).

This season the SHS team was also the SCC Division III Champions, and claimed the most wins in Shelton High history ( and without any Senior members) with CT Orthopaedic named Coach of the Year, Tom Jurzynski and Assistant Coach, Charlie Ostrander.

Swimming at the SCCs, held at SCSU (Southern Connecticut State University), Hunter Wronski, was a Medalist by placing 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke and made the All-Conference Team with breaking his own school record, in a time of 1:02.55.

“I trained hard for this competition and I am really thankful to my high school coaches, and SoNoCo club coach Matt Hurst, my teammates, family and friends for all their support,” Wronski said.

He also placed eighth in the 200 Freestyle with his personal best time of a 1:52.72 and broke another school record with his teammates in the 200 Medley Relay (R. Chavez, H. Wronski, J. Marciano, J. Wise), with a time of 1:48.80 at the CIAC Class L Swimming Qualifier held at Kennedy High School in Waterbury.

Wronski was seeded for first place in the 100 Breaststroke. He swam his way to qualify for ‘A’ Heat Finals, in both 100 Breaststroke and also as part of the 200 Medley Relay.

That relay splashed in with an improved record time of 1:47.91.

“Our relay team was so pumped to qualify for ‘A’ Finals,” Wronski said.

At the CIAC Class L Finals, held at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Wronski achieved the high honor of being a Medalist by placing 6th in 100 Breaststroke, and bettering his own record time with a 1:02.45.

“I tried my best. It was a really fast race that came down to the finish,” he said.

Also, the A Final, 200 Medley Relay Team touched the wall, with their third and final record-breaking season-best time, of 1:46.57.

This past weekend, Wronski, representing Shelton, solely advanced to the CIAC State Open Championship at Yale University, for the 100 Breaststroke, and was seeded 23rd and improved to a state finish of 21st place overall.

“I am very happy with everything that was accomplished this season. It was the best season ever,” Wronski said
