Health District offers free well testing for Shelton residents

Shelton residents can receive free well water testing for arsenic and uranium. The testing is being offered by the Naugatuck Valley Health District (NVHD), which serves Shelton, and the state Department of Public Health (DPH).

Shelton-HealthDistrictLogoThe DPH is working with several Connecticut health departments to evaluate the presence of arsenic and uranium in residential groundwater wells. Wells in several parts of the state have been found to be contaminated with arsenic and uranium.

Volunteer property owners are being asked to participate in the well survey. Homeowners must be willing to share the test results with the NVHD and DPH.

Testing will be performed without charge. Should there be a positive result, advice will be provided on appropriate treatment. To sign up call the NVHD at 203-881-3255.
