The Shelton Public Works Department will conduct a spring leaf collection from Monday, April 27 to Friday, May 1.
Residents are reminded that leaves will be collected in brown-paper, biodegradable bags only. Bags containing anything other than leaves (sticks, grass clippings, dirt, etc.) will not be accepted.
People also can drop off leaves at the municipal compost site on Willoughby Road, next to Elizabeth Shelton School, during the same week (again, leaves only). Drop-off hours are weekdays from 7 a.m.-2 p.m., and on Saturday from 7 a.m.–noon.
Residents who bring leaves to the compost site in containers other than biodegradable paper bags must remove non-conforming containers from the site.
Where to bring brush
All brush must be brought to the city’s transfer station at 866 River Road (Route 110). The transfer station’s ongoing hours are Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
