Free child-car seat training and a seat giveaway took place Wednesday at Griffin Hospital’s Community Outreach parking lot in Derby.
The training on April 15 was designed to help adults, who take care of children, learn about safety requirements for children in various car seats. At the end of the training, participants received a free seat appropriate to their child’s needs and instruction on its proper use.
The event was organized by Safe Kids Greater Naugatuck Valley, Griffin Hospital and the Derby Elks, all of whom donated funds to purchase the child-car seats.
Staff from Griffin Hospital’s Community Outreach Valley Parish Nursing Department, Safe Kids Naugatuck Valley representatives, and Derby Elks Club members were present for the training.
