U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy presents Senate certificates to two Shelton High School student leaders — Elise Sullivan, Shelton High’s senior class president, and Charles O’Keefe, Shelton High’s Student Council president.

Murphy, a first-term Democrat from Connecticut, spoke about the importance of youth leadership during an April 13 meeting with community leaders at Sutter-Terlizzi American Legion Post 16 in Shelton.

He presented the students with certificates and thanked them for their school leadership involvement at a time when they are busy with academics, extracurricular activities and “trying to figure out what to do next.”
