Shelton Historical Society opens its doors Tuesday for the Great Give

Many area organizations, including the Shelton Historical Society, will participate in the Great Give, a 36-hour online giving event beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5.

While donors may make a contribution at any time during the Great Give, those who want to donate to the Shelton Historical Society in person, and see where funds will be used, are welcome to visit the Shelton History Center grounds on May 5 from 11:30 a.m.- 6:30 p.m.

This sign identifies the Trap Falls Schoolhouse at the History Center, which is the last surviving one-room school structure in Shelton.

Volunteers will be available in the society’s 1822 Brownson House to assist in navigating the online donation form; a credit card must be used to make the donation.

Information about volunteer and membership opportunities will be available, along with coffee, tea and sweets.

The Shelton Historical Society owns the Shelton History Center, a museum complex of six historic buildings located just north of the Huntington Green.

The organization offers historical programs to the community as well as school enrichment programs.  For information call 203-925-1803 or go to
