The community can support college scholarships and recognition award funds for Shelton High School (SHS) students through the 2015 Great Give online charity campaign on May 5 and 6.
SHS and the Valley Community Foundation (VCF) forged a new partnership this year, establishing the Shelton High School Education Fund. The management of all scholarship and award funds have been entrusted to the VCF.
The purpose of this partnership is to sustain and build a substantial scholarship and recognition program benefiting SHS students in acknowledgment of their hard work and accomplishments as they move on to pursue higher education.
“I value celebrating student achievement, and it is my firm belief that this partnership will achieve my goal of sustainability for our awards programs, which will continue to benefit the students of SHS for years to come,” said Beth Smith, Shelton High headmaster.
When to consider giving
The SHS Education Fund is participating in the VCF’s Great Give, which raises funds for nonprofits in the greater New Haven region.
For 36 hours — from Tuesday, May 5 at 8 a.m. until Wednesday, May 6 at 8 p.m. — charitable donations will make SHS eligible for thousands of dollars in grant prizes when donations are made to the SHS Education Fund through www.givegreater.org.
Anyone wishing to support SHS may visit www.givegreater.org or www.thegreatgive.org during the 36-hour giving drive, search for the “Shelton High School Education Fund” and click “Donate Now.” No donation is too small.
The SHS Education Fund will be competing for various matching prizes, including most money raised, greatest number of individual donors, and greatest number of new donors.
