Work continues on the Water’s Edge condo development at 500-510 River Road, where 17 units will be built near the Housatonic River. (Photos by Brad Durrell)
These photos show the progress being made on the first three-unit building. Two different unit styles will be offered, according to the developer’s website.
The site will be accessed by a long driveway just north of the former Latex Foam factory (now called Talalay Global). There will be an emergency-only access on Fanny Street, which is off Jordan Avenue.
Water’s Edge originally was going to be 14 units, but then the developer purchased another half acre of land from Latex Foam to expand the property’s footprint to about 3.6 acres and add three more units.
There will be seven buildings with two to three units each, including two units created from an existing house at the Fanny Street entrance (this structure now is being used as a sales office). The project will include a six-slip marina.
The Planning and Zoning Commission approved creating a Planned Development District for the project. A buffer will be created between the Housatonic River and the residential structures.
Publicity material promotes the development as “a gated waterfront community…for sophisticated lifestyles.”
