The Shelton Voters Network will host a legislative update with Shelton three state legislators — Sen. Kevin Kelly and Reps. Jason Perillo and Ben McGorty — on Monday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Plumb Memorial Library, 61 Wooster St.
The event, co-sponsored by the Connecticut General Assembly, is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Each legislator will discuss his work during the current legislative session and answer questions from the audience. All three are Republicans.
“This legislative update will give us all the chance to hear which issues our Shelton state legislators are currently focused on, and how they are addressing them, and to learn about what laws or changes are coming from our state government this year,” said Kate Pipa, a Shelton Voters Network member who is helping to organize the event.
SHS students to help
Supporting the event and volunteering that evening will be Shelton High School student members of Junior State of America (JSA), a student-run nonpartisan organization designed to empower high school students with the tools they need to participate in current issues.
The Shelton Voters Network is an affiliate of the League of Women Voters of the Bridgeport Area. The nonprofit, nonpartisan group educates and connects voters with information so that they may become better informed about, and more active in, their local government.
The group primarily does this through its website, SheltonVotersNetwork.org, and Facebook page and Twitter feed.
