Route 8 southbound bridge work causes merging issues in Shelton

Drivers must merge into one lane before the bridge, causing delays as of about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 14. Local drivers may want to take Bridgeport Avenue to avoid any backups in this area.

Equipment is positioned on the bridge on the left side of Route 8 southbound, with workers doing either inspection or repair work.

Signs and orange cones are being used to get motorists to merge, with the left lane closed near the bridge to provide room for the needed equipment.

Northbound traffic on Route 8 in this vicinity is not being impacted.
