Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and tonight in Shelton. Chance of precipitation is 90%, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Following the heavy rain that fell in Shelton on Sunday night, another 1.5 to 3.25 inches of new rain is expected later today and tonight in Shelton, the NWS said.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Tuesday night for Fairfield and New Haven counties and much of the tri-state region due to the continuing rain and already-saturated ground.
‘Two to 3 inches per hour are possible’
“Rainfall rates as high as 2 to 3 inches per hour are possible, which would cause flash flooding in urban and poor drainage areas,” the NWS said in its Flash Flood Watch report.
The rain should continue into the mid-afternoon in Shelton on Tuesday.
