Shelton resident receives highest YMCA volunteer award

Christopher Gallo of Shelton has received the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA’s H. Richard Brew Volunteer Service Award for his longtime service and commitment to the Y.

This year marks Gallo’s 25th year of volunteer service to the local YMCA organization. In his early years, Gallo worked side by side with Dick Brew, for whom the award was named.

The award is given to volunteers who have demonstrated character, commitment and long-term dedication to the YMCA.

Gallo has been a YMCA board director, treasurer, vice chairman, chairman and annual Strong Kids Campaign chairman. He now serves on the both the board of directors and board of trustees.

As a retired CPA, Gallo consults in litigation support and forensic accounting services for entrepreneurs and family-owned businesses in transition.

He and his wife Debbie have three adult children — Jennifer, Chris and Jessica.

The nonprofit Central Connecticut Coast YMCA focuses on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in the greater Bridgeport and New Haven areas.
