Shelton man dies in shooting


The man who died in an early morning shooting at a Bridgeport housing project was from Shelton.

Savonie “Vahnnie” McNeil, 37, of Shelton is being identified as the victim, according to news reports.

Eight other people were injured — some of them seriously — during the incident on Thursday, June 11 at the Trumbull Gardens housing development, which is in northern part of Bridgeport.

According to reports, the shooting occurred at about 1 a.m. in an outside area on Trumbull Avenue. One of those shot was inside taking a bath and was struck by a bullet that went through a wall of a building, according to reports.

Those injured were rushed to the city’s two hospitals to receive medical treatment.
