Wolf, a member of the 1984 U.S. Olympics shot put team, plans to challenge Democratic U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal in 2016. Wolf is a Princeton graduate, works at Credit Suisse,  is a trustee of the U.S. Olympic Foundation, and lives in Stamford.

Bevilacqua said Wolf would bring “his years of business acumen and leadership to the role as candidate, which would inspire a strong electoral campaign for the important office.”

Bevilacqua, who previously was a Democrat, said Blumenthal “should be proud of his valedictory term in the Senate. For a local politician at the end of a career during a time of vast change, he has achieved much, but his politics does not reflect any longer the sensibility of our electorate.”
