Shelton divides Legion games with Stratford

The Shelton American Legion baseball team split a Zone II doubleheader with visiting Stratford Post 42 on Wednesday.

Stratford took the first game, 4-1, before Shelton took the second by a score of 2-0.

Tim Leveen pitched a four-hitter in the opener, giving up a run in the third inning.

Brett Cody had three hits and drove in two runs, as Stratford (5-3) scored runs in the second and third innings and two in the sixth. Jack Duffy had two hits and scored two runs.

Hudson Boles had an RBI single for Shelton (4-1).

Justin Lynch struck out seven.

Boles and Mike Rotundo, who came on in relief in the sixth to get the save, combined on a two-hitter in the nightcap.

Jake Camp and Paul Salley had two hits each for Shelton.

Brandon Russo allowed five hits and struck out seven for Post 42. Only one run was earned.
