Shelton Girl Scouts were again honored to assist with memorializing the military men and women who have died serving the country.
The Derby-Shelton Memorial Day Ceremony honors all deceased members of the U.S. armed forces, but special note is made of Shelton and Derby residents.
Their families are invited, along with state and local dignitaries, to mark their passing.
‘To help people at all times’
Two Girl Scouts from Troop 60675, Allison Brown and Jenny Piciw, read during the ceremony. Also, Shelton Girl Scouts filled the role of conveying special pins and flowers to the loved ones as their names were called.
Participation in the ceremony is part of the Girl Scouts’ efforts to fulfill their Girl Scout promise, “On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country, to help people at all times.”
