Approximately 460 participants raised more than $30,000 at the 7th Annual Griffin Hospital 5K Walk/Run to Benefit the Center for Cancer Care held in early June.
This was the first year the traditional October event was moved to June to combine the Walk/Run with the Center for Cancer Care’s Annual Cancer Survivors Luncheon.
After the Walk/Run Griffin Hospital staff hosted the survivors’ luncheon, treating more than 150 cancer survivors and their caregivers to a picnic lunch, live music, raffles and games.
“We are very grateful to all the walkers, runners, survivors and caregivers who made the change from the fall to the spring with us and made this year’s Walk/Run so successful,” said Christian Meagher, the Walk/Run director. “It was wonderful to bring together two great events here at the Center for Cancer Care and have the community actively make a difference in the lives of area cancer patients.”
All Proceeds to Benefit Cancer Patients
Proceeds from the fun, non-competitive event are earmarked for patient support programs at the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital and financial assistance for cancer patients for a variety needs, including housing, clothing and grocery bills, transportation, wigs and salon services.
