Farmers market mid-season celebration

The Shelton Farmers Market Association invites the community to join in for a “Midseason Celebration” on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Shelton Farmers Market, located at 100 Canal Street in Shelton.

Live music will be performed by Joe Ballaro, Michael Burgess, and Fred Monahan. Children’s activities will be provided by Joe and Tiffany Ballaro, owners of Bar 140. A planting activity for kids will be provided by Katelyn Russell and Stone Gardens Farm. Other specials for the day include roasted sweet corn, veggie fritters, and an opportunity to shell and pop popcorn. In addition, there will be a market basket giveaway.

The vendors of the day include East Village Farm, Grassy Hill Farm, Laurel Glen Farm, Liquid Lunch, Oronoque Farms Bakery, Seasonal Sweets and Catering, Stone Gardens Cut Flowers, Stone Gardens Farm, These Things Take Thyme, and Waterview Farm.

Community members are welcome to join the Shelton Farmers Market Association for an annual membership fee of $20 to show their support for the producer-only market. Each member is then able to vote at the monthly planning meeting, held the first Monday of the month. Meetings take place at the Farmers Market Building or City Hall depending on time of year. Business sponsorships are also available at the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels of $100, $200, and $300, respectively. Business sponsorship benefits vary, from promotion on marketing materials to booth space at the market. Interested individuals can sign up at the market or email [email protected]

The Shelton Farmers Market takes place at the Farmers Market Building, 100 Canal Street, every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., now until November 25th.
