Tutors needed to teach low-income women

Mercy Learning Center is seeking volunteers to help in its tutoring program.

Tutors will be paired with one or more of the center’s adult female students. No experience is necessary. All volunteer tutors attend a one-day training and receive ongoing support and professional development throughout the year.

The time commitment is at least four hours a week between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. All tutoring is done at Mercy Learning Center, its educational resources on hand.

Trainings will be offered: Tuesday, Aug. 25, 9:30-3 p.m.; Wednesday, Sept. 2, 9:30-3 p.m., and Friday, Sept. 11, 9:30-3 p.m.

Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport, Inc. provides basic literacy and life skills training to low-income women.
