The 2015 Faxon Law New Haven Road Race anticipates over 6,000 runners to take part in the 20K, 5K and Amity Physical Therapy Kids Fun Run on Labor Day, Sept. 7.
The event is again hosting the USA Men’s & Women’s 20k National Championship featuring a number of past champions and former Olympians. In preparation for the 38th annual race, race organizers are introducing new events and amenities for participants including a training series, race lawn signs, runners’ forum and 20K pace leaders.
The first 6,000 entrants in the 20K and 5K receive a two-toned technical running shirt featuring the new race logo. All 20k finishers will receive a commemorative finisher’s medal. The race is limited to 7,500 entrants. Participants are strongly encouraged to register before the race. Race day entry cannot be guaranteed. Participants can register online at newhavenroadrace.org.
A free New Haven Road Race 20K Training Series is held at Trailblazer in New Haven Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
Each week runners are scheduled to run distances from 10K to 20K. Multiple pace leaders are offered. Race sponsor, Generation UCAN, is providing their product for runners before and after the training runs.
SCSU Exercise Science Department is providing a Runners’ Forum on Sunday, Sept. 6. The Runners’ Forum is at the Broadway Triangle across from Trailblazer in New Haven from 1-4 p.m.. The event will offer the opportunity to learn about running, sport nutrition, biomechanics, prevention and care of running injuries and more. Elite runners will be available for a Q&A.
The Faxon Law New Haven Road Race includes pacers for the 20K race. We encourage runners who are striving to run a goal time to join their desired pace leader throughout the race.
