Sunday, Aug 30, 1:00 PM. (Rescheduled)
Join the Shelton Trails Committee for a hike on the newly established Basil Brook Bypass. This trail is an alternate route bypassing a section of the Shelton Lakes Recreation Path, one mile in length and passing through forest and Mountain Laurel, and following a section of Basil Brook. There is also a short side trail leading to a picturesque waterfall.
The hike will be in the shape of a lollipop, starting and ending on the rec path at the Lane St. entrance (see map), total distance of approx. 3 1/2 miles.
Appropriate clothing for conditions, insect repellent, sturdy hiking footwear, snacks, and plenty of water is recommended. Children are able to walk on their own, considering the distance (no strollers due to terrain) are welcome, as well as leashed pets.
Those who are interested will meet at the parking lot on the left just past the bridge on Lane St. (19 Lane St., 06484 on your GPS). Please be on time (1 p.m). as there are not enough volunteers to conduct a search party.
