Road closings for Aug. 23 Sunset Run

On Sunday, (Aug. 23) the annual 10K, 5K, and 1 mile Sunset Run For The Warriors road race will take place in the Huntington section of Shelton.

Several streets will be temporarily closed to accommodate the approximate 600 participants in the event.

The race route will start on Huntington Street and continue onto Isinglas Road, Nichols Avenue, and end at Church Street. The 5K will cut across Blueberry Lane to Nichols Avenue.

At 4:30 p.m. the entire race route will be closed to all traffic except for emergency vehicles. The race route will remain closed until the last participant has passed through a particular section of the route.

The entire roadway will be re-opening no later than 6:30 p.m. During the closing ceremonies, traffic control around the Huntington Green will be reduced to one lane to allow safe traffic control and pedestrian crossing.

Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes during the time period of the race.
