Dr. Mark Konopka said he’s always envisioned himself being his own boss, and he has taken the initiative towards doing just that as he opened his own practice called On Point Chiropractic in Stratford back in August.
Konopka’s passion for health and wellness derives from his experience playing sports in high school into college. He has since applied that same knowledge toward opening his very own practice in Stratford.
“What got me into chiropractic was all of the sports-related injuries that I endured,” said Konopka. “I remember being told by countless doctors to go home, rest, ice, and elevate. It didn’t really help out. I told my mom that I couldn’t keep going on like this and I didn’t find relief until I visited a chiropractor.”
On Point Chiropractic is currently only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays because Konopka also serves as an associate doctor at a private practice in Cromwell, but says as time goes on and he builds his reputation his availability will increase.
“I am taking this one step at a time,” said Konopka. “I am proud of the progress I have made so far, but my main focus now is providing a good service to the community while gaining their trust at the same time.”
Between both of his jobs Konopka said it’s normal for him to be working 12-hour days so he uses the time he has off from work to meditate or go to the gym.
Konopka said he knows that there is still plenty of work that needs to be done, but his desire to help people lead healthier lives keeps him going when it gets tough.“My family always tells me how proud of me they are, but I don’t know. To me, I’m not ‘there’ yet,” said Konopka. “Over time, my hope is to be able to do my job to the best of my ability in order to make someone’s life a little bit better. I know that back pain can be unbearable at times to the point where you can’t really do anything, I’d like to help you fix that.”
