An Ansonia woman was under arrest Thursday, after police say she broke into a Shelton home and vandalized it.
On Sept. 3, Shelton Police served an arrest warrant on Alexis Castro, 19, of Ansonia and charged her with third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief.
The arrest stems from a complaint made to Shelton Police on July 9, where officers were dispatched to a residence located downtown on a report of a break in.
Investigating officers did not find any type of forced entry and upon entering the apartment, but found it vandalized. Investigating officers observed electronics destroyed, a broken mirror, a turtle’s tank filled with baby powder and found a mattress in the creek located behind the residence. The damage reported to police estimated a value of $8,000.
The investigation led to Castro, who allegedly recently broke up with the male that resided at the residence. Castro reported that she was at the residence earlier in the day, however did not disturb anything at the apartment.
Castro posted a $2,500 bond.
