Apple Festival returns this weekend

ec-apples_07The annual Apple Festival at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Monroe Green returns Sept. 12 and 13.

This year’s event will feature a variety of art and crafts from local and out-of-state artisans, baked goods, locally grown apples, cider and pies, plus children’s games, raffle prizes and more. Mums are for sale in a variety of colors. St. Peter’s supports locally-grown items.

The two-day event is held annually on the historic Monroe Green the weekend after Labor Day.

The hours for this year’s festival are Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 13, from 10 to 4.

More than 90 crafters will display a variety of original wares, including clothing, jewelry, pottery, home décor items, gourmet food products and more.

In addition, the church’s Country Kitchen will present a variety of apple treats, including pies, tarts, jams, cookies, caramel apples and more. Apple Central offers local fresh apples, cider and other apple related treats, plus there will be an extensive snack bar providing hot and cold beverages, freshly prepared food and snacks.

Founded in 1802, St. Peter’s is a pastoral parish, comprising about 200 families and is part of the Episcopal Church in Connecticut.

St. Peter’s holds Sunday worship services at 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. from September through June, and one service at 9 a.m. during July and August. Church school, senior and junior choirs, adult education, outreach, and fellowship opportunities are offered. All are welcome.

The Sunday of the Apple Festival, worship service will be at 9 a.m. on the green.
