Take action against hunger

September is Hunger Action Month and there are ways to continue to raise awareness of the importance of feeding the hungry in our neighborhood.

Organize a food drive, workplace or place of worship to help fill the shelves after the summer slump.

Right here in Shelton, the Act/Spooner House feeds between 120 and 150 households each month — besides housing many homeless. And, as they say, every little bit helps.

If you cannot donate food to the Spooner House at 30 Todd Road, there are other ways to help.

Donate gently used items to Helping Hands at 334 Boston Post Road, Orange, in the name of Spooner House, and proceeds will go to the organization.

Amazon.com shoppers can help bring money back to the Spooner House. When making a purchase through Amazon, consider using the Amazon Smile Portal; a portion of the order will support the Spooner House.
