Girls soccer: Shelton stops Sheehan

Kylee Opper scored two goals and Kathryn Arena added another, as Shelton High defeated Sheehan High, 3-1, in an SCC Housatonic Division matchup.

Opper opened the scoring at 25 minutes, before Kelsey Burr pulled Sheehan level on a penalty kick at the 45-minute mark.

Goals from Arena in the 70th and Opper in the 77th got the Gaelettes their second victory in a row.

Shelton outshot Sheehan 19-3, with Courtney Litts and Shelby Offord making one save each.

Kaitlin Lagase made eight saves for Sheehan (4-2, 2-2 in SCC Housatonic).

Shelton improved 2-0-3 overall.
